Today, non-amphibious aircraft have to return to an airport to refill, and they achieve only one dropping per hour. With the SCODEV an increase of the dropping capacity of 5 times (or 500 %) of these very expensive aerial resources will be achieved. In addition the suppression efficiency increases even exponentially (shorter interval, better result). Due to global warming and climate change the number of forest fires forest fires will increase each year dramatically and the shortfall of aerial suppression capacity is increasing and getting more urgent.
Bombardier, the manufacturer of the 110 still active dedicated amphibious water bombers known as Canadair, has ceased the production in October 2015, due to the fact that these aircrafts are not active in the period outside the forest fire season which lasts 7 months. The Canadair is not equipped to transport passengers or cargo.
